Next is Simon Stevenson against Ted Evetts. Evetts is one of the youngest players on Tour, but he won't let the occasion overawe him. He has a lot of natural ability, but is very much at the beginning of his career. Simon Stevenson has had some steady results on the Pro Tour and plays consistently, if not necessarily at the level to go far. However, a level head may just be too good and this could well be a 5 set match, but Stevenson may just edge it.
This is followed by Chris Dobey (pic) against Boris Koltsov. Chris Dobey has improved this season and has had some good results , including making the final of the Players Tour 21 tournament. Koltsov is the best player in Russia and has appeared at the World Cup of Darts, where he has shown some ability, but Dobey is probably too good and expect him to progress.
The final match of the evening sees Gary Anderson against either Paul Nicholson or Kevin Burness. Anderson is one of the favourites to win the tournament and has been in great form all season. Nicholson or Burness will need to hit close to a 100 average to stand any chance.Anderson's scoring is so strong, and so they will need to play their own game and not let his big scoring get to them. Easier said than done! I think Anderson will beat whoever he plays, although Nicholson has the experience not to panic, and might possibly use mental tactics to try and assist him.
